Joe and Evy Harman have been a team raising their children and in business. Now they are a team in real estate with Stonewall Land Company, serving Staunton, Waynesboro and Augusta County.
When they lived in Northern Virginia, Joe worked in real estate in sales, as a loan officer for a mortgage company, as a Vice President of a savings bank and as President of a real estate development company. During this time Evy was an auditor for The Travelers Insurance Company.
While their children were in college, two daughters at the United States Naval Academy and their son at the United States Air Force Academy, they returned to Augusta County where Joe and Evy owned two farms, choosing to live in Staunton. They purchased Crown Jewelers and two houses in the downtown area that were the beginning of Frederick House, a small hotel, with six buildings, twenty five rooms and a full service restaurant, The Dining Room. Evy ran Crown Jewelers while Joe supervised the development of Frederick House. After Crown Jewelers was sold, Joe and Evy created The Dining Room restaurant. Joe and Evy have purchased and remodeled seven buildings in historic downtown Staunton for which they have received two Historic Staunton Preservation awards.
In 2003, when Evy was diagnosed with breast cancer and Non-Hodgkins's Lymphoma, they sold Federick House and The Dining Room. Evy is now cancer free. Joe and Evy have combined their talent and experience again in real estate with Stonewall Land Company.
